Uncertainty

Hiya! If you've found yourself here reading into my sometimes mindful, sometimes mindless rambles, Wonderful! Some may ask, what in the world is this? Why am I reading this?  Good question, I am not sure! Possibly you are a close friend, acquaintance or just browsing and we are crossing paths.

With many journeys in life, I find there is beauty in uncertainty. As I approached my wee-young life milestone of 25 I realized there was a new trend in my life U N C E R T A I N T Y .

Uncertainty brings about a lot of different emotions.

Each new year I create a vision board, a bucket list for that year per say. One constant on my bucket list has been travel. Without giving credit to the minor trips here and there, travel was a constant that I would soon realize that all of these vision boards included a map of the world. So aside from my mini-trips to the Upper Peninsula or out East, naturally my travels intuitively grew much larger, much further.

Alongside travel, hairdressing has always had a front and center appearance on the vision board. I love the art of hair, from coloring, cutting, styling - all of it. One of the deeper connections I have with hairdressing stems from the ability to connect with other humans on another level. Lets be honest, when you go from "Hi (insert name here), I'm Tricia" onto washing a complete strangers hair - there is this gateway that opens. A relationship that is newly formed based on trust. Trust that you can execute what this individual desires for their outward appearance. Or the most loved, bold statement, "Do what you want, I trust you" .

I love the craft that I have been blessed to call my profession. As an artist, like many, we have this slideshow in our mind that goes non stop. The content of this is a non stop idea stream of all the business ventures, art projects, animations, and start ups we would like to accomplish....THAT day. We just want to create!

Settling into the uncertainty that life was presenting to me, I took a leap of faith. Do you ever read a really good book and feel completely ready to take on the world, or better yet - Kick Ass?! A friend, mentor and lucky for me - boss at the salon I work at - gifted all of us an amazing book. In this time of my life, uncertainty in it's strongest form - I clung to this book. I took the challenge, "read within the month". To make a long story short, (maybe another time) by the end of that month I was purchasing a plane ticket across the world and opening new doors I could have never imagined.

So, if you are tuned in, interested or if this ruffles even the slights feathers, maybe there is a message that rings true to you. Uncertainty, it is in us all. When we trust the uncertainty, when we let the universe unfold around us - it provides. The uncertainty that I felt leading up to 2017 was my insides saying, "open the door, let in the universe" and without the slightest doubt, I did.

Fast forward to now. Here I am following through on some of those slideshow clips I have envisioned for years. Blogging is something I was always ,"getting around to". With no follow through, this ever present "must be perfect" attitude I clearly was not getting anywhere. I was hit with the best message. "You have to start somewhere" . Such a simple, cliche message, yet I believe if you tune into certain messages at different moments in your life, they hit the chord just right. It doesn't matter how many great ideas you have, if you are not following through, what's the point?

So welcome to a personal mindless, mindful ramble of journeys ahead.

Upon return from my travel to New Zealand I came back sure of one thing. Travel is my next path. I was certain to return to New Zealand, on a one way ticket. As this has unfolded, my visions for Strands of Detroit have merged into travel. There are many exciting experiences and projects on way and I am so thrilled to be sharing them via writing, my other passion.

Departure from Detroit: September 21st

Onward to Seattle, WA until September 27th. From there, New Zealand, and the rest of the world.
